What business energy contracts are available

When exploring new business energy deals, you’ll find a range of options to choose from. We’ll help you select the best one for your nursery’s needs. However, some tariffs should be avoided—deemed rates and out-of-contract rates. These are default variable tariffs set by suppliers and are typically much more expensive than fixed-rate contracts.

Frequently ask questions

Does the energy price cap apply to businesses?

No, there is no price cap on business energy rates; it only applies to domestic rates. The key difference between business and household energy lies in how energy is purchased, sold, and contracted.
For domestic customers, the price cap is reviewed every three months. While this doesn't directly impact non-domestic rates, it's useful to monitor these reviews to gauge potential energy price trends. If the cap is set to increase, it may be a good time to reassess your business energy contract and compare available rates.

When can I switch business energy supplier?

You can compare business energy quotes once your switching window opens and your contract is up for renewal. This typically happens a few months before your contract ends, though exact timeframes depend on your supplier and contract type. If you secure a new deal during this period, it will only take effect once your current contract expires.
If you've recently moved into new premises or are on your supplier's out-of-contract rates, you have the flexibility to compare and switch at any time.

What experience and certifications do your instructors have?

Absolutely! Our personalized yoga sessions cater to individuals of all levels, including beginners.

What is my switching window?

Your switching window is the earliest opportunity to compare prices and secure a new deal, and it's the responsibility of your supplier to inform you when this window opens. Typically, this occurs 90 days before your contract’s end date, though timeframes can vary, so it’s important to review your contract. If you operate a microbusiness, keep in mind that the rules for switching may differ from those for other SMEs.
Regardless of the length of your switching window, your supplier must provide written confirmation of it, as well as details on their automatic renewal policy and the terms of their deemed contracts.

How long does it take to switch business energy suppliers?

The time it takes to switch depends on the size of your business. If you're a microbusiness, Ofgem’s Faster Switching rules ensure the process is completed within five days. For all other businesses, it can take up to 30 days.
If you're still under contract with your current supplier, the switch won’t occur until your current contract ends. Even if you sign a new contract well in advance, you won't be switched to your new supplier until your existing contract expires.
Also, remember that you can only sign a new non-domestic energy contract when your current one is up for renewal. This can be up to ten months before the contract ends, so it’s important to stay aware of the date. If you use the Bionic Digital Renewal service, we’ll handle this for you.
